On the real zeros of positive semi-definite biquadratic forms
For a positive semi-definite biquadratic forms F in (3, 3) variables, we prove that if F has a finite number but at least 7 real zeros Z(F ), then it is not a sum of squares. We show also that if F has at least 11 zeros, then it has infinitely many real zeros and it is a sum of squares. It can be seen as the counterpart for biquadratic forms as the results of Choi, Lam and Reznick for positive ...
متن کاملDecoupling zeros of positive electrical circuits
Abstract: Necessary and sufficient conditions for the reachability and observability of the positive electrical circuits composed of resistors, coils, condensators and voltage sources are established. Definitions of the input-decoupling zeros, output-decoupling zeros and input-output decoupling zeros of the positive electrical circuits are proposed. Some properties of the decoupling zeros of po...
متن کاملFlexible energy harvesting from hard piezoelectric beams
This paper presents design, multiphysics finite element modeling and experimental validation of a new miniaturized PZT generator that integrates a bulk piezoelectric ceramic onto a flexible platform for energy harvesting from the human body pressing force. In spite of its flexibility, the mechanical structure of the proposed device is simple to fabricate and efficient for the energy conversion....
متن کاملNon-real Zeros of Derivatives of Real Meromorphic Functions
The main result of the paper determines all real meromorphic functions f of finite order in the plane such that f ′ has finitely many zeros while f and f(k), for some k ≥ 2, have finitely many non-real zeros. MSC 2000: 30D20, 30D35.
متن کاملReal zeros of Dedekind zeta functions of real quadratic fields
Let χ be a primitive, real and even Dirichlet character with conductor q, and let s be a positive real number. An old result of H. Davenport is that the cycle sums Sν(s, χ) = ∑(ν+1)q−1 n=νq+1 χ(n) ns , ν = 0, 1, 2, . . . , are all positive at s = 1, and this has the immediate important consequence of the positivity of L(1, χ). We extend Davenport’s idea to show that in fact for ν ≥ 1, Sν(s, χ) ...
